Historical ship arrives at Hvide Sande Harbour
From Wednesday, June 26 to Sunday, June 30, you have a unique opportunity to board a true replica of the famous ship "Nao Victoria" – the first ship to sail around the world.
Historical Background
Nao Victoria was a Spanish carrack and the first to complete a circumnavigation from 1519-1522. The expedition was led by Ferdinand Magellan and completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano. The journey started with five ships, but only Nao Victoria returned to Spain. The expedition covered 32,000 nautical miles and took over three years. This journey proved that the Earth is round and opened new trade routes, dramatically changing the worldview and fostering global trade.

The Replica
The replica of Nao Victoria was built in 1991 after extensive historical research to honor and preserve the memory of this historic achievement. The ship was built in Isla Cristina, Huelva, Spain, and is an accurate replica of the original ship in both design and materials. Since its completion, the replica has served as a floating museum and school ship, visiting many ports around the world. The replica has welcomed more than 6 million visitors and completed a circumnavigation in 2004.
