Port of Hvide Sande, offshore wind center

Press Release - Heliport

There have been inquiries in Hvide Sande Harbour for some time regarding the establishment of a heliport near Hvide Sande Harbour. As part of these inquiries, an information meeting has been held on May 28th on the subject. Following this, there has been significant public debate. The board has also received several inquiries, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank for these contributions.

The purpose of a heliport has been to strengthen Hvide Sande Harbour's opportunities as a service harbour for the upcoming offshore wind farms in the North Sea.

In light of the debate, the board has decided to put the plans for a heliport near Hvide Sande on hold. The board assesses that the debate suggests that many people may experience a negative consequence from a heliport in Hvide Sande. Therefore, the board will instead discuss at its upcoming board meeting whether there are suitable alternatives elsewhere than at Hvide Sande, for example by using Stauning Airport.

Hvide Sande Harbour will continue to do everything possible to become a service harbour for the upcoming offshore wind farms in the North Sea. Hvide Sande Harbour has a very good location regarding this task, and the board believes that even without a heliport, there is a good opportunity for us to succeed in becoming a service harbour. In the same way, the board will also continue to focus on the Harbour's other business areas.
