Closest to Horns Rev parks

The distance to Horns Rev 3 wind farm is only 24 nautical miles. This makes Port of Hvide Sande the harbor located closest to Horns Rev 3.  

Port of Hvide Sande is also the West Coast harbor that is located closest
to Horns Rev 2 – with a distance of 28 nautical miles. 

Horns Rev 1 is located 31 nautical miles southwest of Hvide Sande.  
 

Nearest harbor to upcoming wind farms in the North Sea

In the North Sea off Hvide Sande, several offshore wind farms are planned and screened in the coming years.
- Vesterhav Syd at 170MW consisting of 20 units of 8.4MW wind turbines, was commissioned in 2023 by Vattenfall approximately 6 nautical miles from Hvide Sande Harbor. Vattenfall has chosen Hvide Sande Harbor as the O&M center for this park. Siemens/Gamesa used Hvide Sande Harbor as the commissioning harbor during the construction phase in the summer of 2023.
- Thor Windfarm at 800-1000MW is planned for construction by RWE about 24 nautical miles northwest of Hvide Sande Harbor by 2027 at the latest. During the start-up phase of the installation period, there have been several vessels in Hvide Sande Harbor in connection with the construction.

The North Sea 1 with 2 wind farms of 1 GW each is planned by the Energy Agency to be tendered in the autumn of 2025, with construction beginning in the early 2030s.
The 2 parks are located 20-30 nautical miles directly outside Hvide Sande Harbor.  

Additionally, Hvide Sande Harbor is very centrally located in relation to the state’s screened areas for further future parks.
