Project Cargo

Hvide Sande Port offers optimal conditions for handling project cargo – large, heavy, or complex units that require special conditions, flexible solutions, and specialized infrastructure. We have both the experience and capacity to ensure efficient receipt, storage, and onward transport of everything from wind turbine components and transformers to modular construction and steel structures.

Strong infrastructure for heavy lifts

With quay facilities that can handle a flat load of up to 10 tons/m² and point loads of up to 80 tons/m², Hvide Sande Port is equipped to receive even the most demanding cargo. Additionally, there are up to 20,000 m² of storage space within the ISPS fence, with a flat load capacity of 18 tons/m², as well as an adjoining storage area of 35,000 m² with direct access to the quay.

We offer a range of logistical advantages that make project cargo handling simple and cost-effective:

  • No port fee for using own cranes
  • No stevedore obligation
  • Ro/Ro operations in 'Mediterranean style' are permitted
  • No air draft restrictions in the port area
  • 24/7 loading and unloading
  • Easy access via wide transport corridor to Central Jutland (+11 m width / 13 m height)

What is project cargo?

Project cargo refers to large, heavy or complex loads that require specialized handling and transport solutions. This often includes components such as wind turbine parts, large machine components, or modular constructions.

How do ports handle project cargo?

Ports handle project cargo with the help of specialized facilities and equipment, such as powerful cranes, reinforced wharfs, and spacious storage areas. Efficient logistics and experienced personnel ensure the safe and effective handling of these complex loads.
